a recently finished piece for one of my illustration class. The assignment was to create an illustration for the Holiday Movie Guide in the New York Times. I’ve been thinking a lot over the past year about the effect of an environment in artwork, about how it is not just a simple place but a strong environment is almost this living thing, it carries with it an emotional aspect. I thought this assignment would be a good one to try and eliminate the figure and really focus on capturing a feeling in a piece.
